What type of warranty do we offer with WBI?
-
Every home we build comes with a comprehensive 2-5-10 Year New Home Warranty provided through WBI Home Warranty, fully compliant with BC’s Homeowner Protection Act. This industry-leading warranty is broken down into four key tiers:
1 Year: Comprehensive coverage for materials and labor.
2 Years: Coverage for major building systems (heating, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC), exterior cladding, and building code violations.
5 Years: Building envelope protection against unintended water penetration (roof, windows, exterior walls, and doors).
10 Years: Structural defect protection for load-bearing components like the foundation, framing, beams, and roof structure.
-
Your WBI Home Warranty coverage officially begins on your date of first possession (or when the Certificate of Possession (COP) is signed and issued upon completion). On move-in day, we will walk through your new home together, complete the final pre-occupancy inspection, and submit the paperwork to WBI so your official warranty policy document can be issued directly to you.
-
While your WBI warranty offers deep coverage for structural and material construction defects, it does not cover:
Normal wear and tear (e.g., minor scuffs, cosmetic aging, or standard floor settling over time).
Lack of routine maintenance (e.g., failure to clear gutters, clean drains, or inspect exterior seals).
Post-handover modifications or additions completed by unauthorized third parties.
Landscaping and site improvements separate from the core home structure, unless specifically included.
We provide a home maintenance guide at handover to help you keep your warranty valid and your home performing at its best.
-
Your WBI Home Warranty protection is attached to the home itself, not the owner. If you decide to sell your home within the 10-year coverage window, the remaining balance of the 2, 5, or 10-year coverage automatically transfers to the new buyer at no extra cost and with no complex paperwork required. This is a great selling feature that adds significant resale value to your property.
-
Under British Columbia's Homeowner Protection Act and WBI Home Warranty guidelines, single-family custom homes in BC carry maximum aggregate warranty coverage of up to $200,000 for construction and structural defects combined.
